All surgeries are by appointment. 

Our telephone lines are extremely busy first thing in the mornings, especially on a Monday and during lunchtimes.  If your matter is not urgent you can use e-Consult or try later during the day when the phones should be less busy.  Please also listen to the options and choose the correct department for your needs.  Your call will be held in a queue and answered when possible. 

We are committed to providing a rapid service to our patients, but this is leading to our GPs being overloaded with requests from patients. So that we can deal with your queries more effectively we are instigating a new system.

If you ask for an appointment then our Reception staff will ask you for information regarding your request. They are doing this because the doctors have asked them to; in order that any emergency calls can be given priority, and other calls can be dealt with appropriately, it may be that your query can be dealt with by another member or the team without the need to speak with your GP. Please do assist us by stating the reason for your call and choosing the correct telephone option.

Please call at reception or telephone during surgery opening hours only. You are also able to book and cancel appointments online. Please speak to reception to set this up. 

We aim to give patients an appointment with 48 hours to see a doctor and 24 hours to see a healthcare professional in line with the government's 'Access Plan'. Our ultimate objective is always to have appointments available on the day.

We still have appointments available for booking in advance. Patients 16 years old and over who have not been seen within 3 years and request a consultation will be given the opportunity to consult on areas appropriate to their circumstances.


If you have a health concern and need advice from a GP, you can use our new E-Consult facility, just click the link on the homepage of our website.  The service offers health advice and if necessary will refer your query directly to the surgery where it is disseminated to the correct Clinician, you will receive a response from the Surgery with 48 (working) hours.   

If your branch surgery is closed and you need to be seen urgently you should contact the Wadhurst surgery.

Ticehurst:During Ticehurst opening hours an appointment may be obtained by telephoning Ticehurst (01580) 200317.

Telephone Triage

We operate some sessions as 'telephone triage' at Wadhurst Medical Group, patients telephoning in will be asked to give a brief outline of their problem and a GP will then telephone you back, they may be able to deal with the problem over the telephone there and then or they may ask you to attend the surgery for a face-to-face appointment later on in the day.

Text Messages

If you have registered your mobile telephone number with us, we will send you appointment reminders. You also have the ability to cancel the appointment up to 24 hours before by responding CANCEL


We understand that there are times you are just unable to make your appointment, or it completely slips your mind - however, we now routinely write to patients who have missed two appointments in a six month period. Patients who regularly fail to attend for booked appointments may be removed from the surgery list and will have to register elsewhere.
