We have received communication from Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals that HbA1c (blood sugar) testing has been paused for two weeks due to technical difficulties. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to patients with blood tests already booked.
As HbA1c is often taken alongside other blood tests, those patients with appointments already booked may be asked to come back for a second appointment once Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals confirm they are able to process HbA1c tests again.
For diabetic patients, this may mean that when you attend for your annual review, the Practice Nurse will not have your HbA1c results to discuss with you. Please rest assured that once we receive confirmation that we can start doing these bloods tests again, your results will be reviewed and if required, a follow up appointment will be booked with an appropriate clinician.
